Art Asana

art asana portfolio

I'm so pleased that Eliza Lynn Tobin recently decided to start following my
twitter ramblings because it gave me the opportunity to check out her portfolio. I was wowed by the unique designs and explosion of color. Eliza is a graduate student studying yoga and creativity at Lesley University and much of her art is inspired by the yoga she practices. Original paintings and prints are available for sale through her etsy shop Art Asana.

You Must Allow Me

Raise your hand if you are like me and devour Pride & Prejudice right up until the last two chapters where your reading slows to a snails pace because you don't want it to end.

Back to Reality

Hello lovelies, I disappeared for a week. Did you miss me? I spent the week exploring all that Central California has to offer - namely Yosemite National Park. It is amazing, spectacular, breathtaking, and so many other superlatives that don't seem to do it justice. I'd like to share some photos from my trip so I can entice you all to visit. Nick and I were totally surprised at how outnumbered us American visitors were by European tourists. Yosemite is a place you should add to your "must see" list. Next time I visit I'm pushing myself to make all the way to the top of Half Dome. Hope to see you up there.

Rework - The Fourth "R"

Rit Dyed Toms Shoes

They may not be the exact color blue I was hoping for and the rubber soles may have turned purple but I am really happy with them. They are 100% more wearable now then before I dyed them, magically the dye covered up all of dirt marks. Also, natural colored cotton Toms sort of make your feet look like they are wrapped up in ace bandages. These are much cuter.

Thom Filicia + Kravet = Love

Thom Filicia for Kravet

I spotted this advertisement in this month's Elle Decor and of course my first thought "Yellow and gray, pretty. Loved the layered patterns, who doesn't love faux bois and tribal prints?". Then my brain immediately went to, "Yellow and gray, come on Thom that's so over done. And faux bois, pretty played out also." But since I love Thom Filicia so much that I had to head on over to the Kravet website and check out entire collection.

Thom Filicia for Kravet

Love. Aside from the pretty mustard, orange, and soft duck egg, the color palette is pretty subdued. There's a lot of creams, grays, greiges, etc. My favorite thing about the collection is the texture. I know we've all seen a lot of faux bois but up close this one is so yummy. I just want to run my hands all over it. My very clean hands of course.

Thom Filicia for Kravet

The collection is a great mix of graphic and organic prints. If you are someone who is afraid of layering pattern then this collection is great. All you need to do is stick with one color family and I promise you it will all look great together. I am completely in love with that print of the birds in flight. I can, however, really live with out the last one which just screams David Hicks.

You can see all of the patterns in this collection here.

My Diverse Wardrobe

Check it out guys, I am a blogger cliché.

Also in my closet - a pair of well worn gray chucks, toms, lightweight scarves, etc. In my defense I've been a lover of striped shirts (especially navy & white) from long before I knew what a blog was and before everyone I knew was a francophile. I can't help it, it's in my genes. My mother buys at least one boat-neck, three-quarter sleeve stripe shirt every Spring.

A, B, Sea...

A B Sea Print

Words can't describe how much I love
this print and I know just the room I should hang it in.

Mjölk Shop

Lets do some fantasy shopping, shall we? I recently came across Mjölk a fabulous Scandinavian shop located on Dundas Street in Toronto.

Mjolk Shop Canada

The list of designer name products they sell at the shop is pretty awesome -
Alvar Aalto, Ben af Schultén, Charlotte Hargreave, Pia Wallen, Poul Henningsen, Harri Koskinen, Hironao Tsuboi, Kristian Vedel, Oji Masanori, and on and on. I am especially fond of the dustpan and broom designed by Oji Masanori. So much care has been taken to turn ordinary household items into something really beautiful. Having the pretty broom in your hand might make chores a little bit more enjoyable.

Mjolk Shop Summer Essentials

You can check out more of the items for sale at Mjölk
here. Also be sure to check out the blog that came before the shop, Kitka, where you can follow the shop owners' Scandinavian inspired renovations of their home and cottage.
